This article describes statistical correlations between employment in Russia and crime. It explores the contradictory relationships between employment in specific economic sectors and crime, education attainment and crime, and the age of the employed population and crime. The relationship between crime and employment in the informal sector is also examined. Of particular scientific interest is an analysis of the relationship between education attained in a specific field of study and subsequent employment in that specialty.
