Introduction. Training in graduate school and doctoral studies of scientific and pedagogical personnel ends with the preparation of a dissertation study. In each field of science, there are special approaches to writing a dissertation manuscript and forming a list of the literature used (bibliography). The purpose of this study is to study approaches to structuring the bibliography of a dissertation in legal sciences, namely, in the group of scientific specialties 5.1 – law, which reflects the degree of immersion of the author in problems and the level of his scientific training. Methodology. This study uses theoretical (analysis and synthesis, including the method of system analysis) and empirical methods of scientific knowledge (observation, description). Separate scientific methods (formal-logical, hermeneutic and synergistic) were also used. The study is based on an analysis of regulatory requirements, the application of which is mandatory when preparing a bibliography of a dissertation in the field of law. In the course of the work, possible approaches to structuring and forming a hierarchy, the sequence of the arrangement of bibliography headings are disclosed. Errors and contradictions encountered when writing the names of headings (groups, blocks), sources used are revealed. Special attention is paid to the sources of law, their categorization depending on legal force, date of adoption and validity. Results. Ways are proposed to solve the discussion issues encountered when writing graduate students and doctoral students of the dissertation manuscript on legal sciences in terms of bibliography. It is proposed to divide into three blocks (groups) of bibliography sources: sources of law and other acts; scientific and educational literature; electronic resources. Scientific novelty. The proposed sequence is able to demonstrate to a graduate student (doctoral student) on the defense of a dissertation or when studying the text of a dissertation by other readers the degree of coverage by the author declared for the study of problems. Practical significance. The conducted study contains general and alternative approaches to the names of the headings of the sources used, the sequence of location of which, among other things, helps the authors to make objective-academic and pragmatic provisions for protection.
