A special component of crime detection and investigation is the participation of a forensic medical expert or a medical specialist in the examination of a corpse at the scene of its discovery. The doctor provides assistance in describing the corpse, as this requires knowledge of anatomy and topographic anatomy, as well as the ability to ask questions to the expert and collect samples for comparative analysis. The article provides a rationale for the need to legalize the status of a doctor in a separate article of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, recognizing their special role as a knowledgeable individual.
