Having completed a full 12-year turn, in 2026 the negotiation process on the Ukrainian crisis returned to Geneva's famous Intercontinental Hotel. At their first meeting in 2014 the representatives of Moscow and Kyiv, mediated by the US and EU, agreed to take initial and particular steps to de-escalate tension and restore security for all citizens of what was then a united Ukraine. The current attempt to sit down at the familiar negotiating table is structured as a cycle of Russian-American, Russian-American-Ukrainian and Russian-Ukrainian consequent consultations on the terms of a ceasefire, parameters for creating a buffer zone along the future demarcation line, possible territorial concessions as well as other military, political and humanitarian aspects of revival a peaceful life.
