The article examines the activities of the NKVD of the USSR on food supply to the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. The issues of the broad powers of the NKVD bodies are investigated. It was noted that a significant part of the mobilization reserves of food and agricultural resources could not be withdrawn from the western regions of our country. It is revealed that the sharp increase in the needs of the Red Army for food resources was reflected everywhere. It was revealed that the NKVD faced the problem of the need to provide food to captured soldiers of the enemy army. Transportation possibilities for the evacuation of logistical equipment and food have been studied. It is shown that the uninterrupted functioning of food supply points was reflected in the successes of NKVD servicemen and Red Army soldiers. The NKVD units, in the absence of the necessary weapons and military equipment, selflessly engaged in battle with the aggressor, showing courage and heroism. Despite access to food, from production to distribution, NKVD officers and their families starved like the rest of the population of the Soviet state. The accumulated experience of the NKVD units and the rear services of the Red Army during the Second World War must be summarized in the training of home front specialists in the modern period.
