The article analyzes relevant issues of employment of foreign workers employed on the basis of a work permit in the Russian Federation. To substantiate the relevance, statistics on the need for labor are considered using the example of the Vladimir region. Based on the data provided, an analysis of the current organizational and legal norms in the field of employment of foreign workers engaged on the basis of a work permit is carried out. The authors conclude that there are problems in the practical applicability of these legal norms and the presence of legal gaps in them. Solutions to the identified problems are proposed.
