The article is devoted to the consideration of the validity of highlighting of “so-called migration security” as separate type of security. It is noted that historically the emergence of the state as Political and Law institute was conditioned by necessity to ensure the safety of people. The problem of illegal migration is acute in modern Russia. This problem threatens National security what gave a rise to some administrativists, mostly from enforcement agencies, to substantiate the existence of migration security as separate type of security. Their views are critically evaluated. There are no legal grounds for separation of migration security. A post mention of migration security in State Migration Policy Concept of the Russian Federation for 2026–2030 does not indicate about recognition of existence such type of security at the state level. Theoretical construction of migration security is scientifically untenable. It should be about ensuring public safety in the field of migration as element of National security or maybe even widely — National security in sphere of migration.
