The article examines ethical and legal issues related to the terms “shame” and “conscience” in various aspects, analyzes their essence, dynamics of development, and role in ensuring the fair administration of criminal justice in contemporary Russia, and formulates proposals for improving the professional ethics of a judge with due regard for contemporary state policy.
