This article presents a critical analysis of the legislative initiative requiring mandatory spousal consent for abortion. The study reveals a systemic conflict between women's bodily autonomy and an expansive understanding of family solidarity. It is argued that this provision would create insurmountable legal conflicts, increase risks for women, and contradict the position of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. As an alternative, the author proposes developing mechanisms for voluntary counseling, mediation, and medical and social support for informed reproductive choices.
