The article explores the role of religious organizations in implementing the norms of international humanitarian law, drawing on historical examples. It is emphasized that religious sentiments serve as a key reference for adherence to the norms of international humanitarian law for a substantial portion of the population and, at times, a source of knowledge about them. The forms by which religious organizations participate in implementing the principles and norms of international humanitarian law are determined.
