This article analyzes, from a positivist legal perspective, the principle of Russian environmental law as a scientifically grounded combination of the environmental, economic, and social interests of individuals, society, and the state to ensure sustainable development and a healthy environment. The article examines the historical and contemporary aspects of this principle's functioning in the Russian legal system. It notes that this principle is enshrined not only in the Federal Law "On Environmental Protection" but also in several other regulatory legal acts. Based on an analysis of judicial practice, it is concluded that this principle of environmental law is in demand by law enforcement.
