The author analyzes the modern judicial system in the criminal justice system of Russia through the prism of the process of permanent judicial reform. Notes the main shortcomings of the current system, both procedural and judicial. Makes and substantiates proposals aimed at defining and clarifying the goals and powers of the court of appeal. He proposes an author's model of judicial instances, in which all identified shortcomings will be eliminated.
