Article examines specific issues related to the consideration of personality traits when sentencing for crimes in Canada. It analyzes sentencing for minors, the challenges of taking personality traits into account, and their impact on sentencing. Specific considerations in sentencing individuals with mental disorders that do not preclude sanity are also considered. Currently, particular importance is placed on the personality traits of ethnic minorities. This analysis of specific issues leads to the conclusion that it is essential to consider personality traits when sentencing not only to ensure a fair and legal sentence, but also to determine the path toward rehabilitation for the individual.
