The article reviews theoretical legal and practical aspects of demarcation of theft from related crime elements. Particular attention is given to the analysis of the key criteria distinguishing theft from fraud, misappropriation, unauthorized spending, car theft, robbery, assault with intent to rob, and other forms of unlawful encroachment on property. Based on the conducted analysis, the authors justify the need to clarify the theoretical criteria for distinguishing the above crime elements to facilitate in the future a more accurate, fair, and consistent qualification of crimes against property.
