The digitalization of all spheres of public life has radically changed the structure and qualitative characteristics of crime, which in the 21st century has turned into a global destabilizing factor. The accessibility of information technologies simplifies their use for unlawful purposes, which necessitates a revision of the concept of national security. Today, the focus of attention of the state and, accordingly, of scholars and practitioners is shifting from issues of defending the "physical space" to issues of control and preventive analysis of data circulating in the information environment. With such an approach, it is obvious that criminalistics can and should become the driver for solving the tasks of ensuring the security of the state and society. It is criminalistics that is "responsible" for the introduction of the achievements of scientific and technological progress into anti-criminal activity, forming not only an interdisciplinary but also an international foundation for combating crime as a social phenomenon.
