The article is devoted to the analysis of legislative and doctrinal positions on the definition of housing stock and its classification in domestic law. The author points out the lack of terminological unity and the instability of meanings when using the concept under consideration both within the housing sector and in the legal system as a whole, which leads to law enforcement problems, difficulties in legislative activity, and an incorrect assessment of the targets for the development of the housing sector. Based on the results of the study, a unified interdisciplinary definition of housing stock is proposed.
