The article argues for the augmentation of scholarly discourse with the concept of “legal space”, comprising an integral part of social space (individual, collective, national, and international) within which multi-tier legal regulators operate. The concept is meant to merge the categories of “legal reality” and “legal actuality”. It is of particular relevance for the study of non-Western jurisdictions. In order to facilitate impartial cognizance of legal spaces around the world, not only bespoke indices of legal, political and religious assessment should be applied, but also methods of relevant integrative theories of legal thinking.
