The article is devoted to the issues of legal regulation of the circulation of digital currencies (cryptocurrencies) in terms of cross-border payments in the Russian Federation. The author also analyzes the legal nature of digital currencies, concluding that cryptocurrencies can be classified as a type of monetary surrogates. The issues of currency regulation and control of digital currencies, which can be considered as currency values, are analyzed. It is summarized that Russian legislation regarding the circulation of digital currencies remains fragmented, requiring further development.
