The article is devoted to current issues in the history of the psychophysiological lie detection method. The main stages in the history of the formation and development of the psychophysiological lie detection method using a polygraph are reviewed. The author proposes a periodization of the history of the development of the psychophysiological lie detection method. A review of theses devoted to psychophysiological lie detection using a polygraph is provided. Trends in the development of the psychophysiological lie detection method are identified. Recommendations aimed at the development of the psychophysiological lie detection method are formulated, including, firstly, the preparation of an annual review of the status and development trends of the psychophysiological lie detection method; secondly, the adoption of measures to consolidate the professional community of polygraph examiners, including through organizational measures within the Association of Polygraph Examiners of Russia; thirdly, the organization and annual holding of a specialized scientific and practical conference on current issues of polygraph examination, which is proposed to be timed to coincide with the date of the formation of a specialized psychotechnology issues laboratory, founded on June 25, 1975, and dedicated to the memory of the first head of the laboratory, Yu.K. Azarov (Azarov Readings); fourthly, the continuation of scientific research on the problems of polygraph examination, the adoption of measures to improve the thesis suitability of the topic of psychophysiological lie detection using a polygraph.
