The reader is offered a series of articles on the issues arising in achieving conventionality (consent) in judicial and legal science. Through the prism of modern criminal proceedings and the levels of conventionality in legal understanding, the aim is to illuminate the basic parameters of the evolution of the open system of judicial and legal reforms in Russia (9th–21st centuries), and to study their goals, objectives, methods of implementation, and results. In Article 3, the author, firstly, examines in detail certain aspects of the phenomenon of judicial interpretation within the context of the state’s current criminal policy; and secondly, explores a "threadbare theme": "the return of a criminal case for reinvestigation by the prosecutor and the court."
