With the support of the Russian Science Foundation, a team of scientists from St. Petersburg State University is conducting a set of studies on the problems of domestic violence. As part of the research, they are monitoring the enforcement of criminal legislation in cases of domestic violence. Four monitoring studies focus on the analysis of the practice of applying Articles 105, 119, Part 1 of Article 108, and Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. One of the main law enforcement issues identified by the results of the study is the issue of the direction of a person's intent in cases where the victim's health is harmed, but death does not occur for some reason. The analysis of law enforcement practice has shown that there is no unified approach to determining the direction of the perpetrator's intent and the types and forms of guilt in committing a crime.
