The article provides a critical analysis of the prospects for introducing mediation into Russia's criminal justice system. The authors recognize the positive trend towards humanizing criminal proceedings, but express doubts about the unconditional benefits, feasibility, and compliance with the public objectives of the criminal process when introducing the institution of mediation.
