The article discusses issues related to the migration policy pursued by the Russian Federation; current changes in the federal legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of migration, as well as departmental orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. Some positive aspects of the migration policy are noted: its focus on strengthening control over foreign citizens and stateless persons, as well as on tightening sanctions for offenses committed by them, in order to prevent sabotage and terrorist acts by unfriendly countries that threaten Russia's national security, involving foreign citizens as perpetrators. It is concluded that the legal regulation of migration processes in the Russian Federation is developing in the right direction, taking into account the current situation in the world.
