This article examines the process of harmonizing the legislation of CIS countries on information systems in the field of ecology and natural resource management based on the CIS Model Law “On State Information Systems in the Field of Environmental Protection, Natural Resource Management, and Environmental Safety”. The article defines the nature of the CIS model legislation as advisory acts. It also identifies the actual state of legal regulation of public relations in this area in Russia and some CIS countries. It concludes that a promising area for harmonizing the legislation of these countries is the development of unified approaches to the digitalization of information on the state of the environment and its components. Relations in the field of natural resource management and their digital development are a national issue, and harmonization is inappropriate given the national characteristics of each state.
