Reframing in the Notary’s Activity: Between Legal Formalism and Psychological Trust
Annotation
The article examines the problem of communication in notarial practice arising from the gap between the professional legal consciousness of the notary and the everyday perception of legal procedures by clients. The author substantiates the introduction of reframing techniques as an effective tool for overcoming communicative barriers. From the standpoint of an integrative approach that combines the achievements of legal hermeneutics and cognitive psychology, two basic techniques are analysed: content-based (semantic) reframing and context-based (situational) reframing. It is argued that the application of these techniques not only reduces the conflict potential in the “notary–client” relationship, but also helps to form adequate expectations of the parties, which ultimately serves the purposes of preventing judicial disputes and strengthening trust in the institution of notariat.
