Annotation

In this article, the author examines the content of the legal status of a substitute justice of the peace, the variability of its interpretation in practice, and the essence of the activities of a substitute justice of the peace within the judicial district of an absent judge. Attention is drawn to the scarcity of normative regulation of this issue; specific amendments to current laws are proposed; conclusions and recommendations are set out in the concluding part of the work.
