This article examines the legal policy of the BRICS states belonging to the Muslim legal family in the field of preservation and protection of traditional values. The article reveals the unique features of the national law of Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, which provide for measures to ensure the protection of traditional values. The historical features of the formation and development of the norms of Islamic law, which determine the understanding of traditional values in the BRICS countries belonging to the Muslim legal family, are reflected. The role of custom in such countries is very noticeable, and the authors consider the experience of Indonesia and a specific regulatory act (avig-avig) in the light of this thesis. The experience of criminal law regulation in the field of protection of traditional values is thoroughly analyzed, 2 fundamental security threats for the BRICS countries belonging to the countries of the Muslim legal family are identified: terrorism and extremism.
