This article examines current issues concerning the functioning of the legal profession. A draft law aimed at professionalizing legal representation in court is discussed. The arguments of practicing lawyers not being members of the Bar are analyzed. Information is provided on the legal profession's practical and legislative steps toward reform. Issues of independence of both the legal profession and legal practice, as well as the quality of legal assistance, are addressed. Issues related to professional risks, violations of advocates' rights, particularly those of defense attorneys, as well as organizational and legal problems are identified. The independence of the legal profession and legal practice, as well as the traditions and values of the profession, are highlighted.
