The shortcomings of the legal regulation of the provision of social guarantees to a special category of citizens – family members of an employee, thanks to which a law enforcement officer performs his duties in a high-quality manner, ensures the prestige of the service, and solves personnel issues are paper focuses. Highlighting some approaches to the classification of social guarantees allowed the author to formulate legal gaps and conflicts that cause legal disputes and characterize the law enforcement service negatively. The prerequisites for a modern approach to systematization of criteria for correlating social guarantees of law enforcement officers family members of various types have been identified, and a generalization of identical guarantees in a single federal law has been proposed.
