On Education and Upbringing of Representatives of Highlanders in Educational Institutions of the Russian Empire (Based on the Materials from the Complete Collection of Laws of the Russian Empire)
Annotation
Education played a key role in changing the lives of the mountain peoples in the 19th century. The students became a kind of link between traditional culture and the new realities of the Russian Empire. The education of the Caucasian highlanders in the educational institutions of the Russian Empire was a complex and contradictory process. The Government sought to use education to involve Highlanders in its political and cultural environment.
