Evolution of Legal Regulation of Agency Activity: The Case of the International Federation of Football (FIFA)

Annotation

The following article discusses the development of the regulation of agency activities in the field of football. As the leading international sports federation, FIFA has always been considered as a «driving force» in the development of international sports law in terms of the creation of «soft law». Especially with respect to regulating sports agents. From the 1990s to the present day, the paper traces the gradual development of the institution of agency in football. It also sets forth the provisions by which the agency has been supplemented. As a result of the research, the essence of the new FIFA Football Agent Regulations is outlined, and the author’s position on the above-mentioned document is presented.
