This study analyzes citizen participation in local self-government (hereinafter, LSG), taking into account ongoing constitutional and municipal reforms. The analysis revealed a reduction in the open list of forms of LSG enshrined in federal law, while maintaining the possibility of expanding it in the legal acts of federal subjects and municipalities. While emphasizing the need to enshrine an expanded list of forms of LSG at the federal level, the author emphasizes the importance of going beyond traditional participation methods and incorporating modern interaction mechanisms. To ensure effective law enforcement, regular monitoring of the legal positions of higher courts on LSG forms and detailed methodological recommendations for their implementation in the daily activities of municipal authorities are proposed.
