Annotation
This article examines the legal framework for the development of information technology in Georgia and identifies legal and other issues in this area. It has been established that the active phase of information society development in Georgia began in the early 2000s, although preliminary efforts in this direction had been made earlier. Currently, the legal framework for the development of information technology in Georgia is quite developed. An analysis of the legal framework indicates that the country was one of the first to enshrine in its Constitution the right of every person to access and freely use the internet (Article 17, paragraph 4). Georgian legislation on information technology development includes a number of regulations governing the legal regime of electronic documents, personal data protection, information security, and other aspects. These laws are aimed at creating conditions for the development of the digital space, protecting citizens' rights, and ensuring the security of information systems. Furthermore, the legislation emphasizes stimulating the growth of the information technology sector and promoting the digital economy. These initiatives are implemented through strategic planning and partnerships with private IT companies and international organizations.
