Securitization. Obtaining a Competitive Advantage by Lawful Means

Annotation

This paper analyses how credit institutions can gain a competitive advantage through legitimate means in the context of asset securitisation. Trends emerging in the bank lending market in 2025–2026 point to a significant cooling of the sector and a noticeable reduction in the amounts of funds lent to borrowers. Coupled with the low liquidity of loans already issued, these factors are having a negative impact on the overall decline in credit institutions’ profits and net profits, as well as on their ability to scale their business, implement costly and innovative projects, and participate in the AI race. For its part, securitisation appears to be a tool capable of resolving these issues by providing credit institutions with a competitive advantage, achieved through legitimate means and manifested in increased liquidity of on-balance-sheet assets and the receipt of one-off financing to attain the stated objectives.
