The Two-Level Model of Self-Government: The Experience of Denmark

Annotation

The article examines the specifics of local government organization in the Kingdom of Denmark based on a two-tier model. The author analyses the structure of local government, the process of formation of local bodies and their relations, the division of powers between Danish regions and municipalities. Particular attention is given to the goals of the large-scale administrative-territorial reform of 2007, aimed at decentralizing power and improving the quality of public services provided to the population.
