A Model of the Influence of Adaptive Video Instruction Shown in the Waiting Area on the Psychophysiological State of Persons Undergoing a Polygraph Examination

Annotation

The work is devoted to substantiating the influence of adaptive video instruction shown in the waiting area on the psychophysiological state of examinees during polygraph examinations. It has been established that the location of the video instruction is a significant spatial factor affecting the effectiveness of psychological preparation. It has been determined that showing adaptive video instruction in the waiting area allows using the forced waiting period for preventive reduction of situational anxiety, eliminates the influence of the polygraph examiner’s presence at the stage of information assimilation, and does not create a risk of countermeasure training. As a result of the study, the authors conclude that it is necessary to integrate adaptive video instruction in the waiting area as an element of the standard for psychophysiological examinations using a polygraph, supplementing but not replacing the pretest interview.
