In the article, based on the analysis proposed by A.A. Bessonov's approach to the formation of the forensic characteristics of a crime, the authors propose to single out the stage of building an information basis. An information basis has been developed for the formation of a forensic char-acteristics of murders using fire as a means of covering up fraudulent actions when selling real estate. Such a basis represents a multidimensional model of data, which includes a variety of fea-tures that describe a crime and allow diagnosing investigative situations, building versions, deter-mining the direction of occurrence and making optimal tactical decisions. These characteristics are combined into homogeneous groups. The subsequent filling of this model and its analytical processing by correlation analysis methods makes it possible to form a forensic characterization of murders using fire as a means of concealing fraudulent actions in the sale of real estate.
