The purpose of the study is to analyze the characteristics of current trends in illicit drug trafficking, the risks they pose, and the measures taken to combat it. Methods of research: The study utilizes logical, system-structural, and statistical methods for the scientific study of social processes and phenomena. Conclusions: The problem of illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances remains one of the most pressing threats to the national security of the Russian Federation. Currently, the drug market is undergoing a significant transformation, characterized by the emergence of new types of synthetic drugs, changing distribution methods, and increasingly complex schemes for laundering drug profits. These changes require the continuous improvement of legal mechanisms to combat drug-related crime and the adaptation of legislation to new challenges. Scientific and practical significance: the analysis presented in the article allows us to assess the current situation, as well as regulatory and organizational measures to prevent drug trafficking and the risks generated in the new conditions.
