Annotation

The article is devoted to the imperial period in the history of the Faculty of Law of Moscow State University. It is based on documentary materials and shows how the system of legal sciences and the methodology of their teaching developed, how the faculty was formed and changed. The article reveals the outstanding role of this educational institution in the development of Russian legal science. Imperial period in the history of the Law Faculty was the time of searching for the most optimal model of legal education for Russia. Such a model was formed only at the end of the 19th century. She contributed to the "nationalization" of legal science in Russia, the emergence of a real national jurisprudence in our country.
