The article explores the problem of inheritance of debts formed as a result of the testator's failure to fulfill alimony obligations. Based on the provisions of the legislation and the position of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, a comparative legal analysis of the categories "alimony" and "alimony arrears" was carried out. The positions formulated by civil scientists regarding the attribution of alimony arrears to obligations inextricably linked to the identity of the testator have been studied. Based on the results of the study of judicial practice materials, the existing problems of the institution under study are formulated and possible ways to overcome them are proposed.
