Current Issues of Exercising the Right to Free Legal Aid in the Russian Federation (Review of a Current Research)
Annotation
This article presents an overview of V.V. Rossiev's dissertation, "Realizing the Right to Free Legal Aid in the Russian Federation" (Kemerovo, 2025), which examines the theoretical and practical challenges of ensuring the constitutional guarantee of qualified free legal assistance. It critically evaluates the provisions submitted for defense regarding the division of legal aid into primary and secondary, proposals for subsidized legal aid, reforms to the composition and funding of the free legal aid system, the implementation of legal risk insurance mechanisms, and the creation of a unified digital legal aid ecosystem. The overall conclusion is that V.V. Rossiev's dissertation represents a complete, comprehensive, interdisciplinary study with internal coherence that makes a significant contribution to the development of Russian constitutional law scholarship.
