The article is dedicated to exploring international experiences in implementing digital technologies within local government systems and comparing them with domestic realities. A detailed analysis of current digitalization processes in local governance has been conducted, revealing key advantages and disadvantages of each existing model. The study aims to examine best practices from around the world that operate across different continents, as well as their potential adaptation to Russian realities. The focus is on three of the most prevalent practices: direct online democracy, electronic bricolage (“E-Bricolage”), and digital crowdsourcing. The research is based on both scientific findings from foreign authors and an empirical study of the current situation, which includes statistical analysis, monitoring of official web resources, and more. The study concludes that all models differ in the extent to which they allow citizens to directly influence decision-making by local authorities. It is concluded that there is originality in the Russian path toward the digitalization of local self-government, despite its later emergence compared to international counterparts.
