The system of traditional values in India and legal means of their protection

Annotation

The article analyzes the meaning of the concept of “traditional values” in the legal system of India, their traditional list in the general cultural context and in relation to constitutional legal values. A detailed analysis of the elements of the dharma concept as a traditional spiritual and moral value is presented through the prism of the sacred texts of Hinduism and further interpretation in judicial practice. Special attention is paid to traditional values related to loyalty to the family, filial duty, respect for guests and special reverence for the guru-mentor. The experience gained in India of criminal law measures for the protection of traditional values is also shown.
