Annotation

The article is devoted to the current problem of defining and systematizing criteria for the quality of legal assistance provided by advocate under the agreement. The constitutional right to qualified legal assistance, guaranteed by article 48 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, is implemented largely through the institution of the bar, which determines the public nature of its activities. The author analyzes existing approaches to understanding the quality of legal assistance. The inadequacy of each approach is evident. Experience of regional chambers and foreign practices in the field of standardization is considered. Based on the analysis, еру author suggests ways to improve the system of criteria. The author concludes that it is necessary to develop a flexible, multi-level evaluation system combining objective and subjective indicators, the development of which should be an initiative of the legal profession itself
