Scientific literature indicates that the history of corruption is as long as the history of human civilization. Even the pharaohs of the Ancient Kingdom of Egypt, which possessed a vast bureaucratic apparatus, struggled with corruption. Today, a number of Arab states are characterized by high levels of corruption, and therefore there is a trend toward criminalizing corruption-related crimes. Corruption, in particular, poses a threat to many of the positive processes currently underway in the Arab Republic of Egypt. At the same time, the Egyptian state possesses the necessary capacity to implement the necessary measures to neutralize these criminal acts. And although the country currently lacks a specific legislative act specifically targeting this type of criminal offense, a whole body of legislation in this area is in force. Furthermore, the country is committed to implementing a series of international treaties aimed at combating corruption-related crimes. However, despite this, penalties for corrupt acts may continue to evolve.
