Digital Identity in the Data Economy
Annotation
The article examines the concept of digital identity from the perspective of legal regulation in the context of the emergence of the data economy, where digital identity acts as a new economic and legal asset. It concludes that currently, the very concept of digital identity is vague not only in legislation but also in legal science. At the same time, the concept of ‘digital identity’ is associated with such concepts as ‘digital twin,’ "digital avatar,‘ ’digital image,‘ and ’digital profile," which requires their contents to be differentiated in normative legal acts. It seems necessary to establish the concept of digital identity as a subject with the rights to perform legally significant actions in the digital space. In accordance with the law, a digital personality should be endowed with the ability to perform actions in the digital environment: to form requests, perform transactional oper-ations and exchange data with a certain degree of autonomy without constant direct control by a human being, which is the legal basis for its participation in economic relations as an independent entity.
