The article examines the question of the possibility of using information technologies in the evidence activities of the investigator (interrogator). The point of view is justified, according to which generative artificial intelligence is able to improve the quality of the preliminary investigation. Its “cognitive” abilities are analyzed and on this basis the procedural boundaries of its application in criminal proceedings are determined. Particular attention is paid to the role of the person leading the legal proceedings in interacting with the neural network language model, his ability to use its analytical capabilities, text skills and self-learning ability at the right time and properly.
