The article presents official statistics that shows the growth of crimes committed with the use of information and telecommunications technologies (2023–2024), mentions the caused damage. The authors review supplements to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation introduced on July 31, 2025, to be effective from September 1, 2025. Such supplements refer to a new coercive measure: “Suspension of transactions involving monetary funds, electronic money, and advance payments for telecommunications services” (Art. 1152 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation). The paper describes the respective procedures to be performed by an investigator and an interrogator, grounds for seizure of monetary funds. Attention is drawn to the process of improving digitalization of receipt of information on connections between subscribers and/or subscriber devices, as defined by the said Federal Law, as well as to the related challenges and possible solutions.
