Russian Banks under Sanctions Pressure: Legal Aspects of Working with Foreign Partners and Risk Mitigation Mechanisms
Annotation
The relevance of this study is due to the unprecedented sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, which has transformed the legal framework governing interactions between Russian banks and foreign partners. Restrictions on access to global financial infrastructures and markets, the escalation of compliance risks, and the emergence of alternative settlement mechanisms necessitate a reassessment of traditional legal approaches and the development of adaptation tools suited to a multipolar financial system. The findings demonstrate that legal mechanisms for cross-border cooperation involving banks of the Russian Federation are undergoing structural changes grounded in currency diversification, the implementation of independent payment systems, and the strengthening of internal compliance. A model of international interaction is taking shape that ensures the stability of the Russian banking sector and creates prerequisites for its further integration, including into alternative international financial alliances.
