On the Legal Nature of the Category “Food Sovereignty”

The article analyzes legal approaches to defining the content of the category "food sovereignty" in the context of a structural approach to the generic category of "state sovereignty" in relation to it. Based on the theory of state sovereignty and human rights, it is determined that food sovereignty is a criterion for ensuring state sovereignty in the food sector. It is also proved that the emerging trend towards the legal institutionalization of the category of "food sovereignty" necessitates the identification of its own content, reflecting the meaning of the legal act in which it is mentioned. Such content boils down to the duty of the State to form a legal and organizational mechanism that would provide its citizens with affordable and high-quality food.
